|
|
A "deepthroat" within the Harmon Opposition disenchanted with the methods being used to deceive the public confirmed the next phase of their politically motivated plan.
Sensing that they have not been successful in convincing the residents of Croton that the Harmon revitalization plan is a Democratic plot to flood the village with "Democratic consituents" by creating housing for them, they have adopted a Plan B which will be launched immediately following the passage of the Harmon zoning changes.
Plan B is an Article 78 lawsuit, which is a legal procedure that can be used to challenge a change to zoning. The Harmon Opposition knows they have no chance of winning the case because the Harmon zoning changes are based on facts and the process has been open and inclusive. But winning is not their goal, buying time to the March elections is!
You see, the plan is simply to continue the same fear mongering, misinformation campaign in greater volume and intensity into the election season and try to pick up seats on the Village Board.
Pay careful attention to who is writing letters and speaking out against Harmon revitalization on a regular basis and I am sure it will quickly become obvious who these future Croton GOP candidates are likely to be!
The deeply troubling thing about the Harmon Opposition's Plan B is that the Article 78 lawsuit defense they will file will have to be paid for by YOU THE TAXPAYER!

| Ask them to deny the plans outlined above. Of course they can't. Taxpayers, hold onto your wallets, the CROTON GOP Harmon opposition is about to cost the village a bundle in legale fees to advance their political agenda of stagnation. |

Is this like wasting tax dollars on a garden that will benefit under 30 residents? Or like wasting the opportunity to get at least some tangible monetary benefit from letting a farmer's market use your own real estate (not to mention the added cost of us in terms of police presence there).
Yeah, the tax benefits of this housing has not even been proven yet. In fact, we may lose out in the end with the cost of this construction and with the added # of kids who will be going into our schools.
As far as stagnation: Not much anymore. We will have 3 places ready to open right in the heart of Harmon. Where is the stagnation? Go up to Newburgh and you will see stagnation. |

Well said Croton 23.
And Newburgh was one of the communities some people felt Croton should emulate the 2008 democratic forum on "revitalization".
Speaking of Newburgh, and our former village manager, there is coincidentally an article about both right here.
Yes, by all means, let us emulate Newburgh.

The grass is always greener for these people, Maria.
What we have in Croton is a nice quaint town with the right proportion of businesses to people and housing/apartment for people. I was in Newburgh last week and it looks like shanty town.
Instead of trying to emulate other towns, let us try to make Croton, Croton. Is that so hard? Yes, we can do better and should do better, if we didn't have this kind of garbage on our agenda. How about making the run against hunger 2-3 weeks earlier and having a little Halloween parade through town with kids and parents and friends. How about not busting balls to a BUSINESS owner who wants to change the color of his front awning? How about the administration actually supporting and promoting Croton's own business?
Unfortunately, the damage is done because now the hate and opposition on both sides (and I don't mean Dems and Republicans)....I mean Harmon vs. Administration, is just too much. All because of this foolish housing plan. |

Maria and Croton23 please stay on topic. This thread is to discuss the politically motivated plan to waste taxpayer dollars defending an Article 78 lawsuit. STAY ON TOPIC PLEASE!

As you know, I have been doing these slideshows for two years now. As such, I have gotten to know our business community well. A local business owner said something to a few of us way back when that sums up clearly, part of the problem here.
The business owner said that there was a small but vocal group of people here who wanted you to have the ten thousand dollar tennis bracelet, but they would never buy it from you. That wanted you to stock the hundred dollar a tin caviar, but would never buy it from you. And that, no matter what you did, would never satisfy them.
I look at our village's retail history, which has always been checkered and that includes the closing of Elliott's, and I can readilly understand exactly what he is saying.
Here we have a brand new business in the Upper Village that is slowly becoming a draw for everything else there. The owner has renovated, brought in what I call Upper West Side stock, designer labels and such, and those same people are STILL complaining. I have watched one business owner bring in over ten thousand in new items for Christmas only to find a letter, published on the internet, complaining that we have nothing to offer but pizza and nails. I watched a new owner of a restaurant, at the final stages of his permitting process, look on in horror as the chair of the EDC actually tried to convince him to build more apartments instead. That same night, a representative of the VEB showed up and suddenly wanted him to provide more "green-ness", for lack of a better way to put it. Thank God Fran Allen put a stop to that.
We need to stop complaining and be grateful for what we have. We need to support and nurture what we have.
Enough said. |

Any litigation against them is covered by their directors liability insurance.
Homo ignoramus.
By the way fool, check the political affiliation of those who spoke in opposition. As was the case with Metro Enviro, the vast majority of the speakers were DEMOCRATS or Independents.
Homo ignoramus squared.
p.s. So has the ash transfer station opened up yet? |

Boy was the "deepthroat" within the Harmon\Croton GOP Opposition Mob dead on when it comes to this political ploy. Malcontents monopolized the sign-in sheet and chased supporters away with face making, eye rolling, head shaking, booing and a whole host of childish mind games.
They signed their husband and friend up to purposely hog other people's time and to chase supporters away.
The only thing shakier than that attorney's voice was her legal arguments. The clapping seals really gave her ego a boost! Robert Scott who??? This woman is the new malcontent patsy for sure!
Here is the bottom line:
This is a partisan, political maneuver being orchestrated by the usual Croton GOP suspects to buy time and make this an election issue, ALL AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE!
High five and chest bump all you want, everyone is wise to this transparent game and it will without question backfire in your faces!
TAXPAYERS, HOLD ON TO YOUR WALLETS! While the Village Board is trying to ease your tax burden, the NCN Malcontents\Croton GOP usual suspects will not only be delaying progress, but costing us ALL a bundle in legal fees.
P.S. THEY HAVE NO PLAN OF THEIR OWN, THEY JUST WANT TO KEEP HARMON AS IS, EMPTY AND BLIGHTED! |

The NCN Malcontent / Croton GOP opposition mob is planning on challenging the zoning changes via an Article 78 lawsuit that will cost the village tens if not hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to defend itself against.
Note that they have lost the policy debate because they feel Harmon as it sits is the best we can do. They are now desperately looking for some sort of procedural error to stall the process with.
YOU AND I WILL HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THIS NONSENSE WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS! ARE YOU AS SICK OF THIS HARMON OPPOSITION MOB AS THE REST OF US? TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS ABOUT HOW THIS MOB IS PLANNING TO WASTE OUR HARD EARNED TAXPAYER DOLLARS! |

Yes, in case you haven't heard, there is a MONEY-LOSING Rezoning proposal on the table, which will promote and encourage DENSITY HOUSING.
Enrichment?
Tax Relief?
Revitalization ?
