Attention art lovers: Don't miss your last chance to see "Girodet: Romantic Rebel." This is the first American retrospective devoted to A.L. Girodet-Trioson (1767-1824), a favored but rebellious pupil of Jacques-Louis David. Girodet's idiosyncratic style fuses David's Neoclassical ideal with his own prescient Romantic vision. A selection of approximately 100 paintings and works on paper reflects his originality and the diversity of his works, from mythological subjects to portraits and representations of Napoleon's military triumphs.

Don't miss "Andromeda Hotel: The Art of Joseph Cornell" in The Sally and Volney Righter Galleries. Throughout his life, Cornell (1903-1972) cultivated an encyclopedic knowledge of art, science, cinema, ballet, literature, theater, music and history. He was also a devoted collector and archivist. All of these interests came together in the fantastic assemblages he produced between the 1930s and 1960s. By recombining found objects and reproductions from popular culture and mass media and arranging them in small boxes, Cornell not only preserved forgotten objects ad fading icons but also gave them new life. Thru September 17.

"Big", starring Tom Hanks, tells the story of a 12-year-old boy who makes a wish at a fairground machine to be grown up and wakes up the following morning to find that his wish has come true. But, while his body has grown older overnight, he is still the same kid on the inside. Amusing consequences ensue as he must learn how to cope with the unfamiliar world of being an adult.
The evening's entertainment begins at 6 p.m.; the movie begins at 8:30 p.m. Bring blankets, folding chairs and a picnic to enjoy on the lawn.

"Little Miss Sunshine" is on the big screen. One of the most endearingly goofy families ever to appear in a movie piles into their VW bus to trek to a beauty pageant to fulfill the deepest wish of seven-year0old Olive.
