"Girodet: Romantic Rebel" opens. This is the first American retrospective devoted to A. L. Girodet-Trison (1767-1824), a favored but rebellious pupil of Jacques-Louis David. Girodet's idiosyncratic style fuses David's Neoclassical ideal with his own prescient Romantic vision. A selection of approximately 110 paintings and works on paper reflects his originality and the diversity of his works, from mythological subjects to portraits and representations of Napoleon's military triumphs.

"The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" directed by Tommy Lee Jones, making his big screen directorial debut took the Cannes Film Festival by storm, winning Jones Best Actor accolades and Guillermo Arriaga Best Screenplay. The action takes place on the border between West Texas and Northern Chihuahua in Mexico, a hot spot for illegal crossings, but Jones' movie ingeniously flips this dangerous yet all-to-common practice on it head, with a tale of a man hell-bent on crossing the border in the opposite direction - for reasons that have something to do with the title. An epic vision of the American West that demands to be seen on the big screen.

Experience the clowns, jugglers, acrobats, tumblers, baton twirlers, tightrope walkers and trapeze artists of BARNUM. BARNUM is one of those Broadway musical miracles that great showmen love. It takes what seems to be a modest production and turns it into a musical three-ring circus. The production juggles all the elements adroitly, making the show a triumph of stagecraft, as it blends circus arts with Broadway skill. The result is a totally captivating evening of entertainment.

Neil Young: Heart of Gold at the Paramount. Roger Miller once famously quipped, "Old songwriters never die-they just decompose." Well, Neil Young's entire career has proven an exception to every rule in the book, so it comes as no surprise to his legions of fans that he's still bucking even the final one.
